Families and Folk Art: Stitch by Stitch

In this virtual program inspired by the current exhibition, Unnamed Figures: Black Presence and Absence in the Early American North, families will learn about the lives and talents of some of the children and young people who created needlepoint samplers, then will try their hand at embroidery themselves.

The first 30 families who register by January 19th will receive a package in the mail containing materials needed for artmaking. Any families registering after that date may participate using their own materials.

Families and Folk Art introduces children ages 4 to 12 and their accompanying adults to folk art through interactive discussion followed by hands-on artmaking activities inspired by objects in the museum. More info or to register: 212. 265. 1040, ext. 381, or familyprograms@folkartmuseum.org. All registrants will receive a Zoom link upon confirmation.

Families and Folk Art is supported by the estate of Marlene Gordon.
